Our Story
Pastor Curney was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in October 1987. Pastor Curney began his ministry as Youth Pastor. Pastor Curney was thoroughly equipped to accept God’s present calling as Senior Pastor of New Mercies. Pastor Curney recently graduated from Luther Rice University of Lithonia, GA; he received a Master’s of Divinity Degree in Theology.
During the year of 2000 God began to speak to Pastor Jesse Curney, III; “I have a new thing for you.” After hearing the voice of God, Pastor Curney began to pray concerning the revelation God had given him. In the latter part of 2001, during Pastor Curney’s prayer time, God’s voice became clearer. During this time of prayer, Pastor Curney asked the question, “God what do you want your new temple of dwelling to be named?” God spoke and reminded him that everyday you arise, “I provide you with new mercies”. From that point forward, Pastor Curney began to call that which was about to be birthed out of him, “New Mercies”.
With only three weeks of preparation for God’s new ordinance New Mercies Christian Church’s inaugural service took place May 5, 2002, with over 1,000 well wishers in attendance. At the past location on Rockbridge Road in Lilburn within only three months, New Mercies has multiplied from 35 founding families to more than 2,000 members; this made New Mercies one of the fastest growing churches in Lilburn, GA, Gwinnett County.
In order to bring the Vision to pass, New Mercies has over 34 ministries to meet the needs of the people. God has convinced us that He is no respecter of person and that He is truly sovereign. We recognize that everything we do must give glory to God and everything we have belongs to Him.

What We Believe
Word Of God
We believe the Bible is the Word of God fully-inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
The Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct, but harmonious offices, in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.God the Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teaching. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.
