Visiting a church for the first time can come with a lot of questions. What should I wear? Where do I park? Where do my children go? What is worship like? How do I get connected?

We want your experience at New Mercies Christian Church to feel welcoming from the moment you arrive. Here are answers to some of the questions visitors and new members often ask.

About New Mercies

New Mercies Christian Church is a diverse, Christ-centered worshipping community committed to sharing the Gospel, developing disciples, strengthening families, and serving the community.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the supreme authority for faith and Christian living. We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and in salvation through Jesus Christ.

Our vision is simple but far-reaching: to communicate the Gospel of Christ to the world, disciple the members of His body wholly, and develop and serve the community.

Our foundational values include worship, faith, family, love, relationships, stewardship, discipleship, evangelism, and diversity.

New Mercies began with 35 founding families and held its inaugural worship service on May 5, 2002. Today, New Mercies has grown to more than 8,000 members with more than 46 ministries serving our congregation and surrounding community.

But whether you’re walking through our doors for the first time or have been part of New Mercies for years, our desire is that you find a place to connect, grow, serve, and belong.

New Mercies is a diverse worshipping community committed to healthy families, spiritual maturity, community development, and helping people establish and strengthen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

You’ll find children and teenagers, college students and young adults, singles and married couples, families and seniors, lifelong believers, people discovering faith for the first time, and people simply trying to figure out what their next step should be.

There’s room for you here. Our desire is that people don’t simply attend New Mercies—they discover a place where they can connect, grow, serve, belong, and walk in their God-given purpose.

Pastor Jesse Curney III is the founder and Senior Pastor of New Mercies Christian Church.

Pastor Curney was licensed to preach the Gospel in 1987 and began his ministry serving as a Youth Pastor. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education from Beulah Heights Bible College and both a Master of Arts in Ministry and Master of Divinity from Luther Rice University.

Under his leadership, New Mercies held its inaugural worship service on May 5, 2002, and has grown from 35 founding families into a thriving congregation serving thousands of people through worship, discipleship, ministry, and community engagement.

Sunday Worship & Your First Visit

Our Sunday schedule includes:

  • Sunday School — 8:15 a.m.
  • Sunday Worship — 9:30 a.m.

We also offer Wednesday Bible Study at 12 noon and 7:00 p.m.

If you can’t join us in person, you can worship with us online.

Sunday Worship begins at 9:30 a.m., and the sanctuary opens at 9:15 a.m.

We encourage you to arrive early—and even better, join us for one of our Sunday School classes beginning at 8:15 a.m. In addition to providing an opportunity to grow and connect before worship, attending Sunday School allows you to already be on campus and ready when the sanctuary opens.

For first-time guests and families checking in children, arriving early also gives you plenty of time to park, get oriented, complete check-in, and make your way into worship without feeling rushed.

First, expect to be welcomed.

From the moment you arrive, members of our Parking Lot Ministry, Guest Services team, ushers, and greeters are available to help you find your way and answer questions.

Our Visitor Center is also available to help first-time guests learn more about New Mercies, our ministries, upcoming opportunities, and ways to get connected.

You don’t need to know where everything is or how everything works before you arrive. That’s what we’re here for. Come in, get comfortable, and experience New Mercies. Plan your visit.

Worship at New Mercies is vibrant, engaging, Christ-centered, and designed to create an atmosphere where people can encounter God.

Music is an important part of our worship experience, with choirs, praise teams, musicians, and other members of Worship & Arts helping lead the congregation. Our worship expressions may also include dance, drama, spoken word, visual arts, and other creative elements.

Throughout the service, you can expect worship, prayer, biblical teaching and preaching, giving, fellowship, and opportunities to respond to God’s Word.

No two Sundays are exactly alike, but our purpose remains the same: to create an authentic opportunity to worship God and experience His presence together.

Come as you are and come ready to worship.

You’ll see a variety of styles at New Mercies—from suits and dresses to business casual and more relaxed Sunday attire. We’d much rather have you here than have you stay home worrying about what to wear.

The most important thing you can bring is you.

Not at all.

You are welcome to worship with us, attend Sunday School, participate in many of our events, and get to know the New Mercies family before making any decision about membership. Our Visitor Center and Guest Services teams are available to help you become familiar with the church and answer questions.

Parking, Accessibility & Watching Online

Parking is easy at New Mercies.

We have a large parking lot located directly in front of the church, with volunteers available to help guide you as you arrive and assist with the flow of traffic. Our Parking Lot Ministry also monitors the parking areas throughout the worship experience as an added measure of safety for our members and guests.

Need a little help getting from your car to the building? Courtesy rides to the front entrance are available for seniors, individuals with mobility challenges, and anyone who may need assistance. Just let one of our parking volunteers know. We’re happy to help.

Yes.

New Mercies is committed to creating an environment where everyone can participate fully in worship. All entrances to the church are wheelchair accessible, and accessibility extends throughout our facility, including:

  • Sanctuary seating
  • Restrooms
  • Ministry and gathering areas
  • The baptismal area

We also provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

If you need additional assistance while visiting, please speak with a member of our Guest Services team. We want to make your worship experience as comfortable and accessible as possible.

We livestream our Sunday Worship experience at 9:30 a.m. and our Wednesday Evening Bible Study at 7:00 p.m.

Children, Students & Young Adults

Our student ministry, The Link, is designed to connect young people to Christ and equip them to serve and lead in a constantly changing world.

Children from Pre-K through fifth grade receive a foundation in Scripture through age-appropriate Bible teaching, worship, interactive lessons, and opportunities to grow in their relationship with Christ.

Middle and high school students have ministry experiences created specifically to help them navigate the challenges they encounter at school, at home, and in the world around them while building a faith of their own.

The safety of your child is important to us.

Each child is checked in upon arrival before participating in our children’s ministry experience. At the conclusion of service, the parent or authorized guardian who checked the child in is required to complete the check-out process before the child is released. Children are not released without completing this process.

If this is your family’s first visit, we recommend arriving a little early so our team can help you through registration and check-in without feeling rushed.

Yes. Our nursery provides a safe, loving, fun, and nurturing environment for our youngest children, from approximately 3 months through preschool age.

Our goal is to demonstrate God’s love through compassionate care while providing parents and guardians the opportunity to participate in worship knowing their children are in a welcoming environment.

The Link is the Student Ministry of New Mercies Christian Church, serving children and students from elementary school through high school. Its mission is to connect students to Christ and equip them to serve and lead in ways that draw others to Christ.

Through biblical teaching, worship, meaningful relationships, interactive learning, special activities, and opportunities to serve, The Link helps our students develop a faith that reaches beyond Sunday morning and becomes part of how they live every day. Learn more about The Link.

Our Young Adult Ministry, The Bridge, serves young adults from college age through approximately age 35.

The ministry focuses on helping young adults grow as disciples of Jesus Christ while developing meaningful connections with Christ, one another, and resources that help them navigate life.

The Bridge includes worship experiences, biblical teaching and practical life application, mentorship, discipleship, community service, fellowship, and leadership development.

Grow, Serve & Outreach

Spiritual growth doesn’t end when Sunday worship does. New Mercies offers opportunities throughout the week to help you deepen your relationship with Christ, strengthen your understanding of Scripture, and connect with others. These include:

MasterLife, for example, is designed to help participants develop a lifelong, obedient relationship with Jesus Christ while growing in Christlike character, Kingdom values, and Christian mission.

Bible Study is offered Wednesdays at 12 noon and 7:00 p.m., with teaching centered on biblical principles and practical Christian living.

Serving our community isn’t simply something we do. It is part of who we are.

Our Community Engagement Ministry creates opportunities to serve through community initiatives, special events, resource drives, partnerships, and ongoing outreach.

One of our major community resources is the Mercy Seed Resource Center, which provides access to nutritious food and connects individuals and families with additional resources and support.

Throughout the year, New Mercies also serves our community through health initiatives, counseling, bereavement support, visitation, special-needs and disability support, transportation, resource drives, prayer, educational opportunities, and many other areas of care.

Our mission extends beyond the walls of our church because we believe ministry happens wherever people have a need.

There are many ways to serve at New Mercies. With more than 46 ministries, opportunities include areas such as:

  • Congregational Care — Guest Services, health, counseling, bereavement, prayer, visitation, transportation, disability support and more.
  • Community Engagement — Outreach, resource initiatives, community partnerships and service projects.
  • Christian Education & Ministry Development — Sunday School, discipleship, small groups, New Member Assimilation and spiritual-development opportunities.
  • Worship & Arts — Choirs, praise teams, music, dance, drama, Media/AV and other creative ministries.
  • Student & Young Adult Ministries — Nursery, elementary, middle and high school ministries, and The Bridge Young Adult Ministry.
