Salvation

GOD’S PLAN:God is good, a God of love, who does not want anyone to perish.  The Bible declares in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This is the plan from before eternity began.  God gave his Son so we would have everlasting life.Yet, in spite of God’s love, men are still perishing, why?

MAN’S PROBLEM:Who has sinned? All men are sinners. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”Sin is living according to the “me first” impulse that has as its root rebellion against God. (“God, I want to do it my way, stay out of my life!)Where did sin come from?

Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”The Bible says that sin carries with it a fearful consequence.  Jesus Christ, God’s wonderful Son died on Calvary’s cross to pay the penalty for man’s sin.  The “good news” of the gospel is that God has a solution for man’s sin problem.  The gospel centers on what Jesus did on Calvary.  Calvary’s cross is the bridge that alone can unite sinful men to a Holy God.  Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

OUR RESPONSIBILITY:We must exercise saving faith.  Saving faith is claiming by personal choice and relying exclusively upon Christ’s work on the cross to be sufficient payment for my sin.Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But I believe You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in heaven for me. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins, and save me. I am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation, and I accept Your free gift of eternal life.

If this prayer is the sincere desire of your heart, look at the promise of Jesus: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has eternal life.” John 6:47
